College Guidance
Lowcountry Preparatory School employs a college guidance counselor to provide access to services geared towards setting and achieving academic and career goals. With support from teachers and administrators, the counselor is available to explore potential pathways to success and support the college admissions process. We understand that each student has different needs and it is the Counseling Department’s job to meet students and families where they are on the continuum of development.
Beginning in the Spring of junior year, or earlier, the counselor will begin one-on-one meetings with students and parents to begin this process. Each year, we host colleges across South Carolina to speak to our students and host a SC Application Day where admissions counselors are available on-site to work with our seniors on applications and give access to waived application fees. We provide a virtual Financial Workshop to students and parents on the FAFSA and financial aid process. Each Fall, we administer ACT at a discounted student rate on campus to LPS students grades 10-12. We are always looking for opportunities to expand services to our students and welcome parent feedback.
The counselor is on site two mornings per week for appointments and walk-ins. Appointments may be scheduled at student and parent convenience outside of office hours via email at tlavallee@lowcountryprep.org or by phone.
