Scott K. Gibson III

Head of School Scott K. Gibson III began his service at Lowcountry Preparatory School in 2012.  He also teaches grammar and coaches cross-country.  At the South Carolina Independent School Association, he is a member of the Executive Committee and chairs both the Accreditation Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee.  He is a certified lead evaluator for Cognia, an international accrediting organization.

In his first career, he served 22 years on active duty in the Air Force and retired in the grade of O-6 (colonel).  He commanded at three levels.  His staff assignments included those to the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and he served as special assistant to the four-star commander of US Special Operations Command.  He was airborne and air assault qualified.  He earned his foreign jump wings in Chad.  Overseas assignments included those to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.  He served on the diplomatic circuit at US Embassy N’djamena and US Embassy Rabat.  He is a French linguist.

Scott was the valedictorian at Boys’ Latin School, finished first in his class at The Citadel, and was the Outstanding MBA Graduate at Spring Hill College, the Jesuit College of the South.  He has also earned graduate degrees from Troy University, Georgetown University, and the US Army Command & General Staff College.  He completed an applied research fellowship at RAND.
