We know that adolescence can be a challenging time for students, so our Middle School focuses on the integration of intellectual and social skills. The Middle School curriculum builds on the basics learned in Lower School, allowing students to explore the higher-level thinking that results from the mastery of those skills. At the same time, the Middle School’s learning focus serves as preparation for the Upper School by promoting responsibility, respect, and self-reliance.
The Middle School day includes six 55-minute classes, a homeroom break, and a 30-minute lunch period. A daily 30-minute study hall period allows for study time, special programs, clubs, and advisory meetings. Our Middle School students learn to discover the world and, as they do, to know themselves.
A commitment to community service and an awareness of global issues are promoted through various clubs, field trips, and activities. These activities offer students opportunities to participate and to lead. All students receive instruction in study skills and organizational tips that enable them to become better students, well prepared for their Upper School years.
