Lowcountry Preparatory School believes a significant amount of learning can occur outside the four walls of a traditional classroom. Our students are encouraged to embrace these opportunities when they present themselves and teachers are encouraged to create these opportunities, as well.
A place of authentic Lowcountry beauty, our School offers an Outdoor Classroom that serves as a venue for the enhanced education of all students. The Outdoor Classroom is not only advantageous to the learning experience but also promotes environmental awareness within the student population. On any given day, you may see a chemistry experiment taking place, biology research being conducted, or a creative writing session quietly meeting.
Since becoming a Project Learning Tree Green School, we have strived to adopt the principles necessary to live up to our title. By taking students outdoors, we not only show our commitment to being environmentally aware, but also that the holistic education provided at Lowcountry Preparatory School goes far beyond reading and writing within the school’s walls. Creative and conceptual learning processes are encouraged in the outdoors because students are no longer sitting in a classroom but are located in an open classroom with room to grow and think as strong individuals.
Lowcountry Preparatory School also realizes that our students frequently have the opportunity to experience learning outside the classroom on an individual basis. Whether it is the competitive level athlete with a opportunity to travel and compete in a new location or a student with a chance for a service opportunity in a new location, Lowcountry Preparatory School is committed to working with our students to ensure that they have the opportunity to follow their dreams while pursuing their education. Our personalized approach to education allows these students to work with teachers to maintain their studies while seizing these unique opportunities that arise during their educational years.
