As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, Lowcountry Preparatory School offers the Diploma Programme during the eleven and twelfth grade years. While the IB program is known for its high standards, students of all caliber at Lowcountry Preparatory School participate in the program and are exposed to the IB approach to learning.
Our teachers, trained in the IB curriculum, encourage creative and critical thinking and focus on students becoming global thinkers. Over the two year period, students complete projects in their academic classes as well as through community service. These projects may be in the form of papers, exams, projects, and presentations.
Upon graduation, all students receive the Lowcountry Preparatory School diploma. In addition, those students who have met the requirements for the IB Programme will also receive the IB Diploma. The IB Diploma Programme is recognized by colleges worldwide as one of the top college preparatory programs in the world. By participating in the program, our students learn the think independently and are better prepared for college.
Lowcountry Preparatory School is a designated International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and offers the Diploma Programme during our students’ junior and senior years.
All juniors and seniors participate in the IB Programme and receive either the IB Diploma or IB Certificate upon graduation from Lowcountry Preparatory School. Many students enter the college of their choice with college hours already accumulated.
The IB Programme is considered the worldwide, premier college-preparatory curriculum that enables students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. Students are urged to be internationally-minded and to think beyond their immediate environment.
The small classroom size at Lowcountry Prep creates a learning environment that allows the students to experience the IB Programme in a way that is not available in larger programs. The hands-on approach and close relationships with teachers allow students to reach their potential and receive the maximum benefit from the IB Programme.
In addition, because our students often have the rare experience of having the same core class teacher from their freshman through their senior years, the teachers have the exceptional opportunity to ensure that our ninth and tenth grade students are on track and prepared to succeed in the IB Programme as juniors.
Mr. David Suber, the Middle School and Upper School Director, serves as the IB Coordinator for Lowcountry Preparatory School. Mr. Suber has over 12 years of experience as an IB Coordinator.
